So the signature of Lazare Weill does not appear on either his marriage registration or the birth certificate of Caroline Weill. We do have the signature of Pauline Weiller on a 1915 post card that she sent to her brother David Weiller in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The year 1872 was early on in the German annexation of Alsace, so, even though the act is in German, the bride and groom both signed.
