Abstract: My talk will explore the role of mathematics and statistics in the emerging field of Data Science/Analytics. I will look at some "big data" problems and discuss some of the mathematical and statistical ideas that have been useful in tackling them. The problems will be drawn from a wide variety of fields, as will the solutions. |
