Beyond Latin squares

Sudokus are examples of Latin squares with an additional subsquare constraint. In this talk we will discuss some other constructions which generalize Latin squares. We will then discuss a few ideas on how to extend the definition of Sudokus to higher dimension. In the process, we will draw some links to other combinatorial objects.

The first half of this talk will be on results which have appeared, whereas the second half will be on work which is still firmly in the exploratory stage.
