General Information
- Tentative lecture schedule

The actual material covered in each lecture is below.
- Textbook:
David C. Lay, Linear Algebra and its Applications,
Addison-Wesley, 2nd edition (revised) with Workbook.
- Prerequisites:
Pre-University Calculus: An OAC in Algebra and Geometry,
or Mathematics 69.017, or equivalent. Students who have
not passed the prerequisite course may be automatically
de-registered during the term.
- Classes begin: Wednesday, January 3, 2001.
Classes end: Monday, April 2, 2001.
Tutorials start: Tuesday, January 9, 2001.
- Term mark:
There will be four 50-minute tests in the tutorial hours on
January 23, February 13, March 6, March 20, 2001.
You are expected to take all the tests. No make up, early,
or delayed tests. Any missing test will be counted as zero.
The average of best three tests out of four tests will be
the term mark.
- Evaluation:
Term mark is 40%. The final examination is 60%.
- Calculators:
You may use a non-programmable calculator for the
examinations and tests in this course: One of either
Sharp EL-531 (usually available in the Bookstore) or Casio
FX-991 or any other approved non-programmable calculator.
- Withdrawal:
The last day for withdrawal from the course is
March 9, 2001.
- Help Centre:
The Help Centre in Herzberg Building Room 4385 will be opening
on Monday, January 15.
Hours for the centre:
Monday to Thursday: 10 am to 4 pm, and
evening hours to be announced.
