General Information
- Tentative lecture schedule

The actual material covered in each lecture is below.
- Textbook:
David C. Lay, Linear Algebra and its Applications,
Addison-Wesley, 3rd edition.
- Prerequisites:
Pre-University Calculus: An OAC in Algebra and Geometry,
or Mathematics 69.017, or equivalent. Students who have
not passed the prerequisite course may be automatically
de-registered during the term.
- Classes begin: Monday, January 6, 2003.
Classes end: Wednesday, April 2, 2003.
Tutorials start: Tuesday, January 14, 2003.
- Term mark:
There will be four 50-minute tests in the tutorial hours on
January 21, February 4, March 4, March 18, 2003.
You are expected to take all the tests. No make up, early,
or delayed tests. Any missing test will be counted as zero.
The average of best three tests out of four tests will be
the term mark.
- Evaluation:
Term mark is 40%. The final examination is 60%.
- Calculators:
Calculators are not allowed on the tests and on the exam.
- Withdrawal:
The last day for withdrawal from the course is
March 7, 2003.
- Help Centre:
The Help Centre in Herzberg Building Room 4385 is
a drop-in centre providing a one-to-one tutorial
service for Q-year and first year students on a
"first come first serve" basis. It is open at the
following times: Monday to Thursday: 10 am to 4 pm,
and evening hours to be announced.
- Students with Disabilities:
Students with Disabilities who require academic accommodations
please contact the Paul Menton Centre to complete the required
forms at least two weeks prior to the first test. After
registering with the PMC, make an appointment to meet and
discuss your needs with me. Please note that the deadline date
to submit forms for the final examinations is March 7, 2003.
