Dr. Saban Alaca

Professor, School of Mathematics and Statistics, Carleton University

Research Interests

My research interests are in number theory and its applications, which include:

  • Difference sets, almost difference sets and their applications to cryptography, communications and the theory of sequences
  • Evaluations of character sums, such as Gauss and Jacobi sums, and their applications in number theory
  • Theta functions, eta quotients and their applications, such as representations of integers by quadratic forms and evaluations of convolution sums
  • Discriminants, conductors and integral bases of algebraic number fields, and prime ideal decompositions of rational primes in algebraic number fields
